FreeBSD 14.1 and new server (6th!)
6th server
Now we have a total of 6 servers and the account limit has increased to 60 000!
What is special about the new one is that is it already running FreeBSD 14.1 - read below about many changes we prepared.
FreeBSD 14.1
We are ready for an update to the newest FreeBSD 14.1 release. It means servers will be updated during the next few days.
That actualization includes:
PHP
Composer v1 was removed and composer v2 took its place - so composer
command is the only one available.
Node.js
A few changes were made for Node.js:
- v18 is now default version
- v12 and v21 were removed
- v14 is usable only with yarn (doesn't work with npm anymore)
Available versions: v14 (only yarn), v16, v18 (default), v20 and v22.
Python
Important changes for Python support:
- Python 3.11 is now default version
Available versions: 2.7, 3.7, 3.8, 3.9, 3.10, 3.11 (default).
Java
Some news for Java too:
- Java 15 and 16 were removed
Available versions: Java 8 (1.8), 11 (default), 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22.
If after updating the software there is a problem with the operation or launch of the Node.js/Python/Ruby application (due to changes in the system versions of the libraries), it will mean that they may require reconfiguration. Error logs for web applications are located in the directory ~/domains/DOMAIN_NAME/logs/error.log - we suggest you read them in case of a problem.
In case of problems, please create a separate topic on the forum.
PosgreSQL 16
During the update also we will install the newer version of PostgreSQL 16. If you use PostgreSQL in applications such as Python, Node.js, Ruby, you may need to rebuild the application and update modules after upgrading.
