Dear FreeBSD Administrators,
I hope this message finds you well. I am currently using a FreeBSD system identified as serv00, and I require assistance with configuring the system's timezone to China Standard Time (Asia/Shanghai). Unfortunately, I do not have root privileges, which limits my ability to make this adjustment directly.
Current Situation:
Server: serv00 (FreeBSD)
Access Level: Non-root user
Objective: Set the system's timezone to Asia/Shanghai (China Standard Time)
Issues Faced:
Lack of Root Access: I am unable to use tools like tzsetup or timedatectl to change the timezone globally.
File Permissions: I cannot edit system-wide configuration files or my user-specific shell configuration files (e.g., .bashrc) due to permission restrictions.
Request:
Could you please assist in setting the system's timezone to Asia/Shanghai on my behalf? Alternatively, if there are any recommended workarounds that I could apply as a non-root user, I would greatly appreciate your guidance.
Thank you very much for your time and assistance. I look forward to your response.
Best regards,
punk
